We can help with more niche financial concepts, beyond the surface-level explanation you may get from a chat with AI. We have solid knowledge about topics like how private equity operates, how pension funds invest, how banks offload the mortgages they give you to other investors, … When in doubt, just ask us. If we don’t know much about your topic ourselves, we may have someone who does in our wider network, or we can help you research.
We can act as translators and sense-makers of unnecessarily complicated financial language. We can help you understand financial documents, e.g. the terms of a bond issued by a country, or what is happening in an IPO.
We can help with questions around financial law and regulation, to some extent. We don’t currently have lawyers in our network and we can’t offer legal advice or representation, but some of us are used to digging through and understanding legal financial documents.
We can help understand macroeconomic developments and how they relate to your cause. Inflation, interest rates, currency devaluation, employment data, … if you suspect there is an impact on an issue you care about, we can help you figure out the details.
We could be useful in figuring out the power and limits of economic action - e.g. how effective boycotts are. We may not know the answers outright, but we might be able to help you research them.
